Doryx Side Effects
Doryx side effects will be described in the following article. Doryx is used in treating some bacterial infections, and it can also be used for prevention of malaria. Doryx belongs to the group of tetracycline antibiotics. It is effective in destroying various bacteria, but it cannot be used for viral infections. Doryx can be used in treating some skin conditions such as rosacea.
Doryx is taken on an empty stomach, by mouth. When we say “empty stomach”, it means two hours after having a meal, or one hour before having a meal. It is usually taken twice a day, but your doctor will give you the best advice on how to use Doryx. In case of a stomach upset, take Doryx with food. However, make sure you do not take this medication with foods that contain calcium. After taking Doryx, you should not lie down, for at least ten minutes.
If you are taking antacids, don’t forget to mention that to your doctor before you start taking this medication.
If used for malaria prevention, Doryx is taken only once a day. The first dose will have to be taken one or two days before traveling to the malarious area. You will have to continue to use Doryx there. When you return home, you will have to take Doryx for at least four weeks.
You must not chew or crush this medication. If you can’t swallow the capsule, you can open it and take it right away. You can break the tablet, but you have to take it right away. Do not mix this medication with foods, because this way Doryx will be released too soon, and this will lead to side effects. Have a glass of water after swallowing the tablet. The dosage will depend on your condition.
